Max’s Story

I was not an outdoorsy kid, instead I was the bookworm. I have always loved learning and I have always looked for ways to be helpful to others. One of the reasons I was indoors reading so much is because I had a lot of health issues growing up. As a young adult I lost faith in what conventional medicine could do for me. It was only then that I was introduced to herbal medicine by January, a Cherokee medicine woman in Augusta, GA. I became a regular in her shop to glean whatever wisdom I could.

However, my herbal A-ha! moment didn’t happen until my second pregnancy. I had already miscarried once and was concerned about carrying to term so January referred me to a midwife. The midwife suggested raspberry leaf tea daily for the entire pregnancy and I am glad I listened. I had a car hatchback fall across my back when I was four months along and he was fine. As a matter of fact, he was born only one day after his due date, I slept through most of the labor, and delivery was three pushes and done. This was my first true herbal ally. After all that I knew I wanted to be an herbalist.

It was not a straightforward path as I wanted a degree, as well as an education, and it took a long while to find the right program. In the meantime I earned my massage therapist license in Austin, TX and provided a helping hand to over-stressed, overworked bodies. Finally, in 2015 I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Herbal Science from Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA. After graduating, I worked for Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy for 2 1/2 years learning about established herbal brands before deciding it was time to head back to Austin to establish my own. And now here I am offering you my full attention, my willingness to aid you to better health and well being, and my herbal knowledge. Welcome, it is nice to meet you.
